It's been a while. And there's news
Feb. 1st, 2003 09:29 pmFirst the good news: I GOT A JOB! After 8 months, I found a job through an acquaintance at teh Society for Technical Communications (Berkeley Chapter, where I am VP). I went through 2 rounds of interviews, and I don't think they interviewed anyone else. I start Monday. And though the base salary is less, the bonus MORE than makes up for it!!
Now if only they take well to the 4 conferences I have to travel to this year.....
Next Good News: I HAVE A VENUE!! I've been planning a mid-year music hall for over a year, and just needed an affordable venue. And I found one - a place that I had my eye on actually had bodies there as I drove past on Friday afternoon, so I stopped for a few minutes to open a dialog. And htey will probably GO for it, because the timing is right. New Millenium Music Hall WILL be a reality!
Now I just have to convince all the people I want as performers to go for it (including 2 people whose LJs I read regularly)
AND because Musique did:
1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why?
Does Tom Swift count?? He was smart, scientific, and fought bad guys.
If not, probably Batman (Adam West version) because it was so silly and he had neat gadgets. I also liked the Thunderbirds, but rarely got to watch them.
(Now, it's Doc Savage)
2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got? LEGO set 398 - The Constellation - BUT I got my revenge - now I own TWO of then
3. What's the furthest from home you've been? New Zealand, during my concert tour of Australia/New Zealand in 1988
4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet? Languages - Spanish, Tagalog, Italian, German, Welsh, Gaelic, Danish or Swedish
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Saturday - put up shelves in the bathroom, put together new 1500 CD shelves, get the car smog-checked, mail in the registration (last day)
Sunday - finish shelves, go to a concert in the afternoon and rehearsal in the evening. Maybe even get some LEGO sorting done.
